Secretariat Staff
The Secretariat's staff provide services to ICVA members.
- Mr. Ed Schenkenberg van Mierop, ICVA's Executive Director, leads the Secretariat and ensures the functioning of ICVA as a service-based and member-driven organisation that adds value to members’ work in line with its mandate. He has specialised in refugee and displaced persons issues, the relationship between human rights and humanitarian aid, and the role of the military in humanitarian aid.
- Ms Manisha Thomas, one of ICVA's Senior Policy Officers, liaises with members and humanitarian partners to further ICVA's advocacy role and information exchange on humanitarian issues. Manisha is also editor-in-chief of ICVA's newsletter, Talk Back.
- Mr. Julien Schopp, one of ICVA's Senior Policy Officers, works closely with members and humanitarian partners to further ICVA's advocacy role and information exchange relating to the protection and assistance of those who have been forcibly displaced.
- Mr. Rüdiger Schöch, ICVA's Associate Policy Officer, supports the Secretariat's policy and advocacy work with humanitarian networks and organisations, undertakes research, prepares background documentation, and assists in writing statements, ICVA documents, and reports. He assists the Policy Officer with the production of the ICVA newsletter, Talk Back, and works with the Information Officer in the organisation of events and meetings.
- Ms. Klara Josipovic, ICVA's Information Officer, works on the preparation and circulation of information of relevance to the ICVA network and delivers information services, including the ICVA website, Talk Back, policy papers, background notes, meeting reports, annual reports, and information on membership in ICVA.
- Ms. Cynthia van Sluis, ICVA's Administration Officer, attends to administrative and secretarial matters relating to the functioning of the ICVA Secretariat. She oversees the flow of information in the Secretariat office, prepares ICVA meetings, and responds to external requests for general information.
- Ms. Katharina Samara-Wickrama, ICVA's Project Coordinator, coordinates Phase II of the NGO and Humanitarian Reform Project. Katharina works with Humanitarian Reform Officers from project consortium members: ACTED, ActionAid Action Contre la Faim, CAFOD and Danish Refugee Council in five countries - Cote D'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Pakistan, Somalia and Zimbabwe. Together they focus on improving the impact of humanitarian action through strengthened NGO engagement in humanitarian reform processes including: strengthening effective coordination; piloting innovative financing options; promoting increased accountability to crisis affected populations and mutual learning between local and international NGOs.
- ICVA's Finance Officer is responsible for the day-to-day accounting, develops annual and project-related budgets, administers membership dues payments, monitors donor requirements, and ensures timely financial reporting.
