Update #3 on UNHCR's Standing Committee and the Forum

Dear NGO colleagues,

Just a quick up-date before the weekend to provide you with some contact details of people that will be travelling/arriving in Geneva early next week. First on Standing Committee statements, then an issue related to the Forum that could benefit from some NGO lobbying with governments.

1. STANDING COMMITTEE

-IMPLEMENTATION OF THE A4P Statement: While we have received some input (from ACFOA on what they're doing in terms of implementation (thank you)), it would still be useful to include more from NGOs on what they're doing in terms of implementation and in terms of what "their" governments or UNHCR in their areas of work are doing in terms of implementation.

You can send that input directly to Manisha manisha@icva.ch and I'll compile the input. Thanks to those of you who already have.

2. FORUM
(Thanks to Amnesty International in Geneva for this info):

UNHCR indicated at the Annual Tripartite Consultations on resettlement yesterday that during the Forum, following Canada's presentation on resettlement, the High Commissioner would invite Canada to lead consultations on devising a "generic framework of resettlement."

While AI and other NGOs pushed for NGO involvment in these consultations, it would be helpful if NGOs continue to lobby governments to ensure NGO participation in this early round of negotiations under Convention Plus....
