ICVA's General Assembly Objectives
The General Assembly is the supreme body of ICVA with responsibility for the formulation and review of ICVA's policy and programme. The 12th General Assembly, to be held in Geneva, Switzerland, will bring together ICVA's membership to collectively reflect on ICVA's work since the last General Assembly. It will provide an opportunity for the membership to plan the future direction and work of the network. The General Assembly will also elect a new Executive Committee for ICVA.
Up until 1999, when the 11th General Assembly was held in Geneva, ICVA members would come together once every five years. When ICVA's Statutes were revised at the 11th General Assembly, there was a feeling that the membership needed to meet more regularly and, therefore, decided to hold General Assemblies once every three years instead.
Since 1962, General Assemblies (formerly known as General Conferences) have been organised in countries where ICVA member agencies or consortia are headquartered. Since 1981, the General Assembly has been combined with a debate on a theme, which is also open to non-member organisations.
